Daniel Stackhouse       Natalie Goodwin

Certified Personal Trainer

MS, Registered Dietitian

We met in 2019 in Boston where we were both seeking the job experiences and opportunities needed to find meaning and fulfillment in our work. Our compatible personalities and overlapping interests (and cats) brought us together, but what became quickly apparent was our shared mission for a mastery of healthy living and a desire to help others break free of the damaging paradigms that we ourselves had struggled with for our entire lives. This became our united purpose, and we decided to move to Maine and start a business online.

Our goal with Uplifting Movement is to provide the path to better health with professional services that revolutionize how we think about our wellbeing. The status quo of the fitness and nutrition industries has failed people for decades. In both of our careers we see the ramifications of these failures on a daily basis, and we are here to offer an alternative.

We are bringing science, mindfulness and compassion back into the health equation. We currently live and work in Western Maine but we are happy to virtually assist anyone, anywhere. We are excited to have you here with us for the journey!

Our story

Natalie Goodwin - MS, RD, LDN

Natalie is a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Her interest in health and nutrition began when she was working as a research biochemist in San Francisco and she noticed that most of the diet and lifestyle programs being promoted on social media and TV were not based on sound science. She decided to make it her mission to use her knowledge and experience in the research field to help people rise above the swamp of misinformation to cultivate a lifestyle that is health-promoting and sustainable. It is her goal to provide people with knowledge and the tools to make eating healthfully become second nature rather than chore that needs to be accomplished.

In addition to nerding out on nutrition research, Natalie likes to spend her free time painting, gardening, rock climbing, and sewing.

Dan Stackhouse - CPT

Dan is certified by the American Council on Exercise as a personal trainer, group fitness instructor, pain-free movement coach and fitness nutrition specialist. His interest in fitness is driven by a earnest desire to achieve long-term health, wellness and happiness. These ongoing aspirations stem from his years as a severely-overweight child which gave him an understanding of the impact that poor fitness, poor mobility and negative body image can have on one's life. Daniel is driven to help others liberate themselves from such confines and live with abundance, strength and joy.

In addition to a career in fitness, Daniel is a classically trained musician with a Master's degree in oboe performance. He is a member of two bands, Junco and Ragtime Rebellion, and performs regularly with the groups in western Maine and surrounding areas.
